At Saints Mary & Elizabeth Academy we have a long standing tradition of parent involvement in school activities, Trunk or Treat is one of the favorites.
Trunk or Treat is a Halloween celebration where not only do the students, teachers and parents dress for the occasion, their cars and trucks do to.
We have a video from a parent which will posted from this event soon so check back to see it.
Congratulations to our October 2009 “High Five” achievers of the month.

I’m posting this a little late as this was in October but better late then never.
At Saints Mary & Elizabeth Academy, every year we arrange for the Linden Fire Dept. to come by and teach children about fire prevention followed by a great time where the children get to interact with the firemen, check out their equipment and actually use some of it.
They love spraying the hoses.
It’s official, we’re no longer loners ;-)
We’re catching up with the times and joined the ranks of the social networking era to spread the word about SME Academy faith based education alternative to the public school systems and the Academy Eagles. It’s personal, everyone gets involved and we believe just a better option to the public school alternative during the most crucial years of a child’s learning years.

Thanks for the review, Good Luck and God Bless!
We thank an anonymous source for the video and write up. The Academy has such an involved dedicated group of parents, teachers and of course students, the "Eagles".
In 2009 eleven little girls from Saints Mary And Elizabeth Academy in Linden NJ did the incredible.
The Academy Eagles varsity cheer squad had lost four unforgettable girls due to Graduation the year before and before the practice season would start their roster with only six on the squad and two in Question if they would be ready in time.
The rush to find the girls to fill their ranks was on, nobody ever thought the glory of the 2008 season would shine through 2009, they were dead wrong!
Nothing can keep the Eagles down, they keep soaring higher and better than ever before, we love our little Eagles.
Go Eagles!!!!
- For Release: 9-21-2009
Saints Mary & Elizabeth Academy in Linden, NJ aka SME Academy or The Academy had our annual back to school night for 2009-10 school year.
We caught the speeches and a performance from some of our talented students on tape with a special first time performance of "High Five".
This was our first video taping of such an event so excuse any missing parts, we didn’t get it all as one person was taking pictures and handling the video. We’ll do better next time.
Congratulations to our September 2009 “High Five” achievers of the month.
A student must meet the tri-fold mission statement criteria of the Academy to achieve this award.
Saint Mary and Elizabeth Academy Has Fun with Science
Saint Mary and Elizabeth Academy in Linden learns science in a fun, hands-on way. Third grade teacher Mrs. Doretta Warnock likes to create interactive science lessons. For a recent chapter on animals and metamorphosis, her class watched larvae transform into caterpillars and ultimately, Painted Lady butterflies. Oranges were fed to the butterflies and on Monday, October 5, the students released the butterflies into the wild.
Mrs. Warnock plans to have more hands-on activities for the next chapter in science, plants.
Saints Mary and Elizabeth Academy Remembers 9/11
Linden, NJ- Students at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Academy in Linden contributed remembrances and service on 9/11. They made cards and wrote letters thanking the Linden police and fire departments for their dedication and valor. The City of Linden was touched and appreciative of the kids’ actions, and sent a letter of thanks. “It is during this time of sadness that your cards and letters give us the support we need to get by another year of remembrance. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers,” the note read.
Many students at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Academy lost family members in 9/11, and so the anniversary is especially poignant at the Catholic school.
The school’s principal Maritess Kaminski said the experience symbolizes life’s fragility. “Life is fragile. Each day in life is a blessing. As long as God is giving me the opportunity to lead a school, I will continue to encourage the students to remember the selfless sacrifice of our men and women in uniform.”
Spearheaded by social studies and reading teacher Mrs. Sara Pender, the school also held a food drive on 9/11 in recognition of Obama’s National Day of Service and Remembrance. Considering that there was such short notice---school started on 9/10---Mrs. Pender was very pleased with the amount of food donated. The eighth grade classes delivered the twelve boxes of canned goods to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Linden, where the food was blessed by a priest and then donated to the Linden Food Bank.
Back to school night, a chance for parents to meet their children's
teachers and see their classrooms after a brief introduction from the Principal, Priests and HSA President.
